Welcome to the Behind the Designs Blog! We are only 22 days away from the first day of Autumn 2011 and it’s the perfect time to introduce the 2011 Pantone Fall Color Palette.
My favorite color(s) for this fall range between the deep purple “phlox” and the soft taupe of “nougat”. In fact, my signature accessories and wardrobe staples include black, purple, fuchsia (or red), brown and beige. I was very surprised to see a salmon and pink color, along with two shades of a grey-blue, in this years’ fall palette. That being said, this palette surely reflects there is a great fashion color for everyone this fall!
We Rochestarians are known for always complaining about the weather -it’s too hot; it’s too cold; it’s too humid and so on. My husband, he just assume move to warmer climates (although, after this summer, I’m not so sure he feels the same way). Me? I love the changing seasons. I don’t know that I could live without them. Sure, I’m not a huge fan of rainy spring or hot summer days, but, in fairness each of those seasons have things that make them special. My favorite season of the year is by far, autumn, followed by winter. Yes. Winter. No, I am not an eskimo.
Fall inspires me. I enjoy a renewed interest in nesting and tending to my fall gardens. Some of the things I look forward to, include (in no particular order): layering outfits with lush fall colors, stylish boots, cozy sweaters, chic turtlenecks with long necklaces, bold colored nails, pumpkins, colorful leaves, the color brown, pumpkin spiced lattes, mums coming up in my garden, craft shows and good friends/good wine.
obsessions pumpkin spiced lattes. I discovered recently our local Wegmans is once again carrying the limited edition, International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer. Yum! The perfect compliment to a crisp autumn morning -sit out on the deck wearing a cozy cable knit sweater and your hands around a hot cup of coffee flavored with Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer. (hmm..maybe my creamer and I should get a room. LOL!)
Beyond Pantone’s fall color predictions, other fall fashion trends to look out for include: tuxedo dressing, plaids & tartans, polka dots, 60s & 70s inspired, and geometric color blocking, to name a few.
